Byodo-In Temple, Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii - Webmaster
I used to take quite a few photographs, albeit with my trusty little pocket digital / point-and-shoot camera. It was easy to see that I could have taken much better pictures if I'd only had a legitimate DSLR. Such being beyond my means at that time, I trudged on ahead, doing the best I could with what I had. Some of my pictures came out amazingly well (I thought). I'd like to share some of them with you.
The above picture, showing the temple of Buddha in the Valley of the Temples, is one of the best of the pictures. I took it late in the day. The sun already had descended behind the Koolau Mountains. The crowd had thinned out to a dribble, as it was nearly closing time. The koi had been fed by all the passing tourists and had retreated to their resting places. All was right with the world.
An interesting fact about the Byodo-In Temple is that, regardless of your religious affiliation, the temple and grounds feel very somber, holy. No one speaks. No one rushes about. The need to sit and meditate is unmistakable. It's a good place to go to relax and gather one's thoughts.
Some of the pictures you see on the following page(s) will have poems included. I selected favorite pictures and wrote a few words to go with them. I hope you will enjoy them all.
